National People's Congress
On the afternoon of December 29, 2023, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) voted to adopt the decision on convening the Second Session of the 14th NPC. According to the decision, the Second Session of the 14th NPC will be held in Beijing on March 5, 2024.
On March 4, 2024, a press conference was held at the Great Hall of the People for the Second Session of the 14th NPC. Spokesperson Lou Qinjian answered questions from domestic and foreign journalists regarding the agenda of the session and NPC's work. Lou Qinjian introduced that the Second Session of the 14th NPC will open on the morning of March 5 and close on the afternoon of March 11, with a duration of 7 days. There will be a total of 3 plenary sessions during the session, and seven items are on the agenda. During the session, three press conferences will be held, where the relevant officials from the State Council will answer questions from journalists on topics such as diplomacy, economy, and people's livelihood. There will be a "Delegates' Passage" before each plenary session and a "Ministers' Passage" after each plenary session.
CPPCC Session
In December 2023, the 12th session of the Presidium of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held, which deliberated and adopted the decision (draft) on convening the Second Session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee. It was proposed that the Second Session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee would be held in Beijing on March 4, 2024.
On March 3, 2024, a press conference was held for the Second Session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee. Spokesperson Liu Jieyi introduced that the session will open at 3:00 pm on March 4 in the Great Hall of the People and close on the morning of March 10, with a duration of 6 days. During the session, there will be an opening ceremony, a closing ceremony, and two plenary sessions. Committee members will hold sectoral group meetings and multiple committee-specific group meetings in their respective locations, and some sectors will hold one sectoral consultation meeting. Three "Committee Member Passage" interview events will also be held during this session.
